Nerd 🤝 nerd

This class has made me feel like I was actively leveling up my sewing experience! So many complex details that Heather’s thorough videos get into. I really enjoyed nerding out on techniques for each component which was definitely fueled by her enthusiasm for each as well. I love the access to online forum too, it’s so helpful to turn to of if I have any question/confusion, because it’s likely someone else has already asked the questions and it’s been answered. Almost done with my shirt and it has been a breeze so far. Already making plans for a second!

All the tips and tricks in one place

This is my second class from CCP and I can’t say enough about how wonderful Heather and Montserrat are!!! I’ve taken online and in person classses from beginner to couture. CCP beats them all. Like all their classes, this shirt class brings together all the best techniques for a gorgeous handmade garment. This is what makes CCP so unique. Heather will tell you she’s tried different techniques for yokes, cuffs, collars and she presents the absolute best method in her classes so you don’t have to search for another way. And if there’s more than one good way to do it, she’ll share that too.
The other thing I love about Heather as a teacher is she’s quite realistic about where it’s important to be precise and where it matters less. And she’ll give you all the tips and tricks to achieve precision. But she encourages you to not let perfection be the enemy of good. And I love that in this day of social media and posting only the perfect.
Finally, Montserrat is amazing. She responds to questions quickly and thoroughly. CCP patterns, classes and platforms are the trifecta of sewing and sewing instruction. Thank you! I’m a true fangirl 💕💖

I really wanted to love this class

And maybe I would have loved it if I was sewing the Jenna shirt. But I made the mistake of choosing Kalle. This course is not going to show you everything you need to do to make Kalle, and I really wish the difference in instruction for each pattern had been made clear when I made the purchase. Everything was going great, I was feeling confident and excited about sewing. I just finished an 8 week sewing course, so I'm not exactly a beginner. I thought this would be a great next step and that with the help of these videos, I could finish the class with a shirt. Almost everything is shown on Jenna. But I kept going, and even recut my fabric for the collar according to the downloadable instructions that are needed in order to make it possible to do the techniques shown for Jenna on Kalle. But things really fell apart at the end. There is a full 25 minute video on how to assemble Jenna, and a rushed 12 minutes of just the trickiest parts of the Kalle cuffs, sides, and hems. At one point Heather even says "I'm reluctant to do a full sew along on camera of Kalle because we have blog posts about it." At that point I knew I had made the wrong choice. When I went to the (almost decade old) blog posts, the instructions there are photos, not videos and definitely assume you know a lot about sewing. If I was able to make a shirt from a free blog post, I certainly would have instead of spending money on a video course! I'm giving it 3 stars because I definitely did learn some things. Heather has a great personality and is a fun hang for the lessons. I might try again to make the Jenna once the disappointment of this failure has faded a bit. The half finished Kalle shirt will stay in my closet taunting me until I gain the sewing skills to be able to finish it with the written instructions only. I guess that's good motivation to improve! I'll post photos here and maybe someone will appreciate the time spent incorporating the quilting.
